Eldine Syifa Receives the Young Artist Award at ARTJOG 2026
Lievik Atelier is proud to announce that its founder, Eldine Syifa, has been named one of the recipients of the Young Artist Award (YAA) at ARTJOG 2026 for her installation Laboratory of Play: Still Live.
Organized by PT Artjog Matra Nusantara, ARTJOG is one of Indonesia's leading contemporary art festivals, serving as a platform where new artistic ideas, knowledge exchange, and creative practices come together. Through exhibitions, public programs, and educational initiatives, ARTJOG fosters dialogue between artists, institutions, policymakers, the art market, and the public while expanding the possibilities of contemporary art.
The 2026 edition, curated by Farah Wardani under the theme ARS LONGA: GENERATIO, explores the role of art across generations and encourages dialogue between established and emerging artists. The exhibition examines how contemporary artistic practices respond to social, political, environmental, and cultural changes, positioning art as a space for reflection, knowledge production, resistance, and healing.
As part of this vision, the Young Artist Award highlights exceptional artists under the age of 35. From 479 applicants, ARTJOG selected 19 artists from across Indonesia and Kuala Lumpur to participate in the exhibition. Three artists were ultimately recognized with the 2026 Young Artist Award, including Eldine Syifa, whose work was selected for its artistic quality and its resonance with the exhibition's curatorial framework.
Eldine began her artistic journey through jewelry as an intimate art form before expanding her practice into autonomous objects and spatial installations. Her work centers on material experimentation, playful explorations of form, and the dialogue between metal and non-metal materials. Through Lievik Atelier, she continues to bridge traditional Nusantara metalsmithing with contemporary artistic practice, embracing the belief that metal is a living material shaped through both intention and spontaneity.
Her award-winning installation, Laboratory of Play: Still Live, explores play as a creative methodology. Returning to flower-making—often considered one of the foundational exercises in metalsmithing—the work transforms handcrafted metal orchids into symbols of resilience and adaptation. Reflecting on Eldine's experience within the historically male-dominated tradition of metalworking, the installation considers how one can inhabit inherited systems while creating space for experimentation, critical distance, and new possibilities.
This recognition marks an important milestone for Eldine Syifa and Lievik Atelier, affirming an ongoing commitment to material exploration, contemporary craftsmanship, and the continued evolution of Indonesian metal art.
