Okay, Time for a Break

Let's be honest, metalsmithing can be tiring. There’s hammering, standing, polishing, concentrating... and then more hammering. So yes, we made a cozy corner where you can sit down and do absolutely nothing for a while.

Grab a coffee, take a breather, flip through one of our zines, or just sit and stare into space. No one’s judging. Sometimes the best ideas show up when you're not trying so hard.

A Little Something for the Brain

Every studio has a bookshelf. Ours is basically our little window to the world.

You'll find books, magazines, references, odd things we've picked up, and a few trophies from projects along the way. We keep them around because making things is also about looking at what other people are making, thinking, and imagining.

A workshop shouldn't only make your hands busy. It should keep your head curious too.

Yes, It Gets Dirty. We Still Clean Up

Blacksmithing is not exactly a clean hobby. There’s fire, metal scale, dust, sparks, and a fair amount of dirt involved. But that doesn't mean everything has to be thrown everywhere.

We’re a little obsessive about where our tools go and how the workshop is arranged. A tidy workspace means less time looking for things and more time actually making things. Dirty hands? Definitely. Chaotic workshop? Not really.

Sometimes, You Just Gotta Make Your Own

Sometimes the tool you need simply doesn't exist. So we make one.

A lot of the tools around our blacksmithing workshop are made by us, usually because we have a very specific thing in mind that we want to make. The shape of the tool, the way it holds the metal, even the smallest details can change how the work turns out.

Making the tool is part of making the thing. So before we start hammering, we like to think a few steps ahead.

This is the heart of Lievik Atelier, where our metalsmithing and silversmithing work starts. The benches are set up with the tools we use every day. We keep things organized because knowing where your tools are makes a surprising difference when you’re in the middle of making something.

Our gallery in Bandung is where we display contemporary jewelry, metalwork, and objects made at Lievik Atelier. The space brings traditional Indonesian craft references into a contemporary setting.

Working with metal takes a bit of energy and plenty of concentration, so taking a break is part of the process too. Our coffee corner is a small, cozy spot to sit down, grab a drink, browse through our zines, and let your hands rest for a while before getting back to the workshop.

Blacksmithing is naturally a messy business. But we think about where each tool goes and how the space is arranged, not just because it looks nice, but because a well-organized workshop makes the work more efficient

Sometimes the right tool isn’t on the shelf, so we make one. At Lievik Atelier, we build many of our own blacksmithing and metalworking tools around the work we want to do. It means thinking ahead — how the metal needs to move, what shape we’re after, and what kind of tool will get us there.
