In traditional Indonesian cultures, the svastika symbolizes prosperity, good fortune, and positive energy, serving as a beacon of auspiciousness and protection against negative forces in various forms of artistic expression. Its rotational movement embodies the cyclical nature of life, fostering continuity and harmony with the universe. Similarly, in Javanese philosophy, the concept of "Banyu" underscores the interconnectedness of existence, emphasizing purity, balance, and the vital role of water in both physical sustenance and spiritual cleansing. This profound symbolism resonates throughout Javanese art and philosophy, which strive to attain harmony and equilibrium in all facets of life.
In my artistic endeavors, I sought to simplify and transform elements to evoke the fluidity of water and the symbolic motif of Pamor Wos Wutah. This approach imbues the artwork with organic lines that fluidly respond to the motif's flow, enhancing its intrinsic harmony and synergy. The philosophy behind Pamor Wos Wutah, symbolizing spilled rice, conveys deeper meanings of tranquility, prosperity, and abundant livelihoods, serving as a poignant reminder for married couples navigating household dynamics. It underscores the challenges of restoring trust and respect once compromised, highlighting the importance of preventing disruptions in marital harmony. Ultimately, these intertwined themes of prosperity, balance, and trust encapsulate the essence of harmony and synergy in both artistic expression and human relationships.
